Tomcat 7.0.12 installation Linux
In this tutorial, we are going to install Tomcat Server on Linux (32-bit) platform. The first step is to install the JDK. Download the JDK from here.
All administration tasks needs to be performed as a TOMCAT user on the Linux operating system. Follow the link to create a user and group with the name ‘tomcat‘.
After the ‘tomcat ‘user is created, then, under the tomcat home directory and extract the JDK.
cd /home/tomcat/ tar -xvzf $software/jdk-7u17-linux-x64.gz
Once extracted, JDK directory will be created under /home/tomcat directory: jdk1.7.0_XX.
The next step is to download the Tomcat Server package from the following link
When downloaded extract the package:
cd /home/tomcat/ tar –xvzf /var/tmp/apache-tomcat-7.0.x.tar.gz
Verify the tomcat installation on Linux operating system
cd /usr/local/tomcat/apache-tomcat-7.0.x cd bin ./version.sh
Server version: Apache Tomcat/7.0.xx Server built: Apr 1 20xx 06:13:02 Server number: 7.0.xx.0 OS Name: Linux
